Subhead

As a guest at of the Tyler Seventh-day Adventist Church here's what you can expect on your visit.

As you enter the doors, a friendly person or two (we call them "greeters") will hand you a bulletin. This bulletin contains the agenda for the day's program as well as several announcements about what's happening in the life of the church.

If you arrive between 9:30 and 10:30 am you've come during what we call Sabbath School. This is a time of Bible study and discussion in small group format. We have classes for infants through adults. The website menu contains links to descriptions of all the study classes we offer. The greeters will be happy to point you in the direction of the classes you are interested in.

Our traditional service begins at 10:45 am with congregational singing (which means we all sing together) accompanied by an organ and/or piano. For this service the songs we are singing will be in the Hymnal located in the seats. During the following hour the participants listed in the bulletin will go to the stage to make announcements, tell a children's story, pray, read a portion of the Bible or sing. There will also be a collection of offerings. As our guest, there is no need to feel obligated to participate in this portion of the service, simply enjoy the music that will be playing during this time. Finally, the pastor will present a message, or a sermon, which usually lasts between 30-45 minutes. Dress ranges from traditional church attire to jeans.

Our contemporary service, WORSHIP!, is held every Saturday at 5:00 pm. This is a friendly "come as you are" service that incorporates music, media, prayer, and a Bible-based message in a modern format. We begin with singing accompanied by our praise team. All song lyrics are projected on a big screen and the music will range from traditional hymns to energetic songs of praise. If singing isn't for you, feel free to just enjoy the music. Intermingled with the singing, there will be prayer time, reading from the Bible, and special features (i.e. videos, drama, visual art) based on our theme for the day. Then the speaker will present a Bible study or message, usually lasting 30-45 minutes. Dress is come as you are.
